The Writer Beware website researches and lists literary scams that can waste your time and money. It's a good idea to check this site before entering any of the many writing competitions available via the internet. While I've taken all possible care to ensure that the resources, competitions and markets that appear on Writing Down Under are legitimate, things happen fast in cyber-world and literary agents can change hands, and their practices, overnight. Webmasters can also change or modify their practices over time. Please be wary and notify me if you have any concerns about links appearing on Writing Down Under.
FirstWriter.com is a comprehensive website packed with information for writers the world over. It's well worth signing up for Dan Case's regular newsletter, which comes chock-full of writing tips plus a listing of high, medium and low-paying markets. There's rarely an issue in which I don't find a new market for my writing. At the website itself there's a huge database filled with submission guidelines for markets all around the world. As always, you'll have to sift through a lot of magazines tailored to the US market but the search is bound to turn up a gem or two for writers of the southern regions
